Bites of Learning: Fostering Professionalism in student feedback

This conversation focuses on the importance of professionalism in student feedback within medical education. The speakers discuss the challenges faced by students and teachers in providing and receiving feedback, and present a model for assessing professionalism that includes guidelines for communication and behavior. The session emphasizes the need for constructive feedback mechanisms and the role of formative assessment in fostering professional development among students.

Participants

Marie Dahlin (Guest) is the Programme Director (PD) of the Medical Programme since 2019. She is a senior physician and associate professor of psychiatry at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, with research in student health and suicidology. As PD, she has, among other things, worked to develop a programme-wide model for assessing professionalism in students. 

Zoe Säflund (Host) is an educational developer at the Unit of Teaching and Learning at Karolinska Institutet. With a background in Psychology, specializing in Psychometrics and survey methodology, Zoe has a strong focus on question design. She is also responsible for managing the course evaluation process at Karolinska Institutet (KI).
