Why an environmental policy?
According to the regulation (2009:907) on environmental management for government agencies, KI must establish and develop an environmental management system. As part of the environmental management system, KI must have an environmental policy. The environmental policy describes the intentions and direction for KI’s work on environmental sustainability.
Summary of the policy
KI shall be an active societal actor and contribute to solving environmental and climate challenges with a focus on health through education, research, and collaboration.
To achieve this, KI shall:
- Integrate environmental perspectives into strategic and operational work,
- Through education, research, and collaboration, contribute to achieving environmental and climate goals according to national and international agreements,
- Through continuous improvements, reduce the negative environmental and climate impact that KI’s activities indirectly or directly cause,
- Ensure that relevant laws and other regulations in the environmental area are complied with,
- Continuously evaluate and develop environmental work that constantly improves KI’s environmental performance,
- Encourage students and employees to actively contribute to environmental work and ensure that they have the knowledge and resources for this.
The environmental policy covers all of KI’s activities. All employees and those working on behalf of KI have a responsibility to follow the environmental policy.
