Student poster contest on sustainability projects

The Poster Prize for KI’s Sustainability Day 2025 aims to recognize innovative and impactful student projects at the intersection of sustainability and health. The competition encourages
KI Bachelor, Master and PhD students to present their planned, ongoing or finished projects and research. Submissions should explore ways to make our university, healthcare, research and society more sustainable, resilient and equitable.

Eligibility

  • Open to all students enrolled at Karolinska Institutet (Bachelor, Master and PhD level).
  • Participation as a group is encouraged but not required.

Topics and poster categories

Submissions may but not necessarily use relevant sustainability frameworks such as Planetary Health and One Health, Sustainable Healthcare and Sustainable Research, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Poster categories include: 

  • new project ideas,
  • real-world projects with demonstrated execution, or
  • research studies. 

Submission can address any topic related to sustainability and health. Topics could for example but not necessarily be related to research, education and advocacy at Karolinska Institutet including reducing KI’s own environmental footprint and engaging KI students and employees for sustainability. Other possible focal points include healthcare and sustainability-related determinants of health in society. Interdisciplinary cooperation is encouraged. 

Evaluation Criteria

Posters will be judged based on the following criteria:

  1. Innovation & Creativity – Originality and novelty of the project/research.
  2. Feasibility & Implementation – Practicality and clarity of the project/research and its (potential) implementation plan.
  3. Potential Impact & Scalability – Relevance and adaptability to different settings.
  4. Interdisciplinary Approach – Integration of multiple disciplines for sustainability.
  5. Quality of Presentation – Clarity, engagement, and visual appeal of the poster.

Competition Format

  • Register your participation by March, 26
  • Posters should be submitted in PDF format by March, 26 to miljo@ki.se
  • Up to three winners will be notified a few days before the event (Sustainability Day).
  • The prizes include a feature on the KI website and a three-minute poster pitch in English during the main program of the Sustainability Day on April 2.
  • All submitted posters will be encouraged for display.

Poster Guidelines

  • Posters should clearly state title and authors and shall be visually engaging and easily understandable.
  • Recommended poster size: A2 (420 x 594 mm) (vertical format)sizes up to A0 accepted.
  • To apply for financial support in printing costs, please specify and motivate in the registration form (priority given to Bachelor and Master students).
  • Feel free to re-use a poster that you already have.
