Summary of the guidelines
The guidelines apply to the election of deans, faculty members, members of the senate and the nominating assembly, with different terms of office and conditions for eligibility, including requirements for a doctoral degree and employment at KI. All employees in teaching and research with at least 50% employment on 1 January of the election year have voting rights and are included in the electoral roll.
In elections, no gender group may have fewer than 40 per cent of the seats among faculty representatives in various bodies. If the election results do not meet this requirement, it is adjusted by replacing overrepresented candidates with underrepresented ones. The election procedure begins with nominations over a period of at least two weeks, followed by the nomination committee's selection and the nomination assembly's compilation of candidates. Elections may take place directly or within the nomination assembly via digital voting. The university director is responsible for the election procedure, including determining the electoral roll, receiving election reports, convening meetings of the nomination assembly and determining the election results.
