Ethics Council
The President has established an Ethics Council at KI in accordance with the decision of the University board.
The Council is chaired by the Scientific Representative at KI. Other members, of whom half shall be KI employees, the other half external members, shall be appointed by the president for a fixed term. In total, there are between seven and nine members.
Assignment of the Ethics Council
- ensure that a discussion about ethics is taking place within KI, primarily research ethics and medical ethics,
- be a body of knowledge and stay informed about development in the field internationally and nationally,
- ensure that KI's handling of ethical issues is in line with the values of the surrounding society and those within KI, or what should be the values within KI.
Within the framework of the assignment, the Ethics Council decides which issues to address. The president may, however, request the Ethics Council's opinion on matters of a general nature.
