Access data from external databases administrated by CDO
For some external databases, data access requests have to go through the KI Compliance and Data Office since the database providers require that KI vouches for its researchers
External databases
- Before you can make a Data Access Request you need to submit a Data Access Request Assurance Form to compliance@ki.se.
- For access to dbGaP you need an active eRA account, as a PI, before you can submit an access request. Please contact compliance@ki.se if you need help creating one.
- To submit a Data Access Request (DAR) for specific datasets log onto the dbGaP Authorized Access page
- It is important that the SO and IT director contact information in the DAR is the following:

- Submitted DARs are automatically forwarded by dbGapP to the KI Institutional Signing Official for approval and co-signature.
- Signed DARs are automatically forwarded to the appropriate Data Access Committee (DAC) for review.
- If the DAR is approved, you can download the data
- If the DAR is rejected, you can address the issue(s) with a revised request
- Please bear in mind that controlled access dbGap data can be traced to individuals and that an ethical approval in Sweden is needed for their analysis.
- Before you can make a Data Access Request you need to submit a Data Access Request Assurance Form to compliance@ki.se.
- For access to NIMH you need an active eRA account, as a PI, before you can submit an access request. Please contact compliance@ki.se if you need help creating one
- To request access to the data navigate to the NDA homepage
- Click on “Request data access”
- Select “Sign in with RAS”
- Sign in with your eRA account
- Select the permission group and click on “Request access”
- Fill in the requested details
- If other KI users apart from yourself will be given access to the data, select their name under “Known affiliated users” or click on “Add new user” under “Other recipients” to add new users
- Select “Björn Kull” as the Authorized Institutional Business Official
- Download the Data Use Certification
- Sign the Data Use Certification and send it to compliance@ki.se for signature by the Signing Official.
- Once the Signing Official has signed upload it to the Data Request

- To request access to the data navigate to the NIDDK Data Request page
- Click on ”Log in/register with RAS”
- Sign in with your eRA account
- Select the study you want to access data from
- If other KI users apart from yourself will be given access to the data, add them by filling in their details and clicking on “Add researcher”.
- Under “Authorized Organization Representative Information” provide the following information:

- Fill in the requested information in the application
- Upload a copy of the ethical approval where you specify which data from NIDDK will be analyzed and you describe the analyses.
- Submit the application
- If the application is accepted, a Data Use Agreeement is generated and sent to you.
- Sign the Data Use Certification and send it to compliance@ki.se for signature by the Signing Official.
- Submit the Data Use Agreement to NIDDK
- For access to DUOS you need an active eRA account, as a PI, before you can submit an access request. Please contact compliance@ki.se if you need help creating one
- Before you can make a Data Access Request you need to submit a Data Access Request Assurance Form to compliance@ki.se. In the same email please also provide the eRA account names for you and any internal collaborators.
- The KI signing official will pre-authorize you in the DUOS system to submit requests by providing you a “library card”.
- To request access register with DUOS on the DUOS homepage
- During the registration you need to provide your eRA account details.
- Once registered, you can proceed to the DUOS Data Library to search for and identify the datasets you would like to request, then select them and click the Apply for Access button.
- You will then be taken to the Data Access Request Application workflow in DUOS. Please fill out the form as directed.
- Select “Nikolaos Volakakis” as the Institutional Signing Official under 1.6
- Type “Mattias Nordström” as the IT director under 1.7
- Click Submit when finished.

- Sign the DUA and email it to compliance@ki.se for signature by the Signing Official
- Submit the signed DUA to Child Mind Biobank
- Please bear in mind that an ethical approval in Sweden is needed to analyze Child Mind Institute Biobank data that can be traced to individuals
- Before you can make a Data Access Request you need to submit a Data Access Request Assurance Form to compliance@ki.se.
- Follow the DACO data access instructions
- Sign the application and email it to compliance@ki.se for signature by the Signing Official
Submit the signed application to International Cancer Genome Consortium

- For access to All of Us you need an active eRA account, as a PI, before you can submit an access request. Please contact compliance@ki.se if you need help creating one
- To request access to the data you need to create a Researcher workbench account
- Verify your identity through login.gov (instructions will be provided to you by email from All of Us)
- Complete the Responsible Conduct of Research Training (instructions will be provided to you by email from All of Us)
- Sign the Data User Code of Conduct
- Fill in and submit the All of US- Data Access Request Assurance Form to compliance@ki.se.
