Regarding the situation in the Middle East
Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East and unrest in other parts of the world, Karolinska Institutet is monitoring developments closely.
Travel and safety
Staff and students planning to travel abroad are advised to keep themselves updated on current travel and safety recommendations. At present, travel is not recommended to many countries in the Middle East region.
Read more at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Please note that the advisory may vary depending on citizenship. For Swedish citizens, the Foreign Ministry's travel advisory applies.
Book through KI's travel agency
All business travel, including flights, trains, hotels and car rentals, must be booked through KI's contracted travel agency. This allows KI to know where employees and students are located and to act accordingly.
Register with Svensklistan - Sweden Abroad
KI also recommends that anyone travelling abroad register with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs' Svensklistan: Register with Svensklistan - Sweden Abroad.
Support for students and staff
Students who are affected by the situation and need support can contact Student Health Services.
Staff members who need counselling can contact their immediate manager. If necessary, counselling is also available through the university's occupational health service, Avonova.
Continued work
Karolinska Institutet is continuously monitoring information and recommendations from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and other relevant authorities, and is collaborating with networks within the higher education sector.
