Set up two-step verification/MFA for the first time
This guide will help you if you are new to KI or have not yet set up your two-step verification/MFA.
To be able to follow this guide, you need:
- Computer and internet access.
- A mobile phone with the ability to install apps.
Step1:
Open this link in your computer's browser.
Enter your KI email address in the login box and then click Next.

Step 2:
Enter your password and click Sign in.

Step 3:
You should now see an information box saying More information required.
This indicates that you need to set up two-step verification/MFA on your account.
Confirm that you are signed in with the correct account, then click Next.

Step 4:
You now need to open your phone and open the Microsoft Authenticator app.
If you do not have this app, install it from the Google Play Store (Android) or the App Store (iPhone).
After opening the app on your phone, click Next on the computer.

Step 5:
You should now add your account to the app.
If this is the first time you open the app, you can add an account immediately.
Otherwise, press the plus (+) at the top right to add a new account (iPhone), or the three dots at the top right, then Add account (Android).
Add a Work or school account to your phone, then press Next on your computer.

Step 6:
Select Scan a QR code on the phone after selecting the account type.
If the app requests access to the camera, this needs to be approved before proceeding.

Step 7:
You should now see a QR code on your computer that you must scan with your phone.
The camera on the phone should also have started.
After scanning the QR code with your phone, click Next on the computer.

Step 8:
You will now receive a message asking you to enter the number shown on your computer into the prompt on your phone to approve your login.

Step 9:
Once you have approved it, the message below will appear on your computer.
If everything went well, you will now see a message on the computer saying that the setup is complete.
You may now be asked to approve the login with your phone when logging in.
