Summary of the instructions

These instructions apply to all employees who, based on an assessment by a radiation protection expert, are classified as Category A.

Employees must be classified as Category A if there is a risk that one or more of the following radiation dose limits may be exceeded:

  • 6 mSv effective dose
  • 15 mSv equivalent dose to the lens of the eye
  • 150 mSv equivalent dose to extremities
  • 150 mSv equivalent dose to the skin, averaged over 1 cm² (regardless of exposed area)

Placement in Category A requires medical examination and assessment of fitness for work involving exposure to ionizing radiation.
