Erasmus+ teacher exchanges and staff training

If you are employed at KI or have another position where you teach KI students, you have the opportunity to apply for funding for professional development and skills enhancement abroad through Erasmus+.

Teacher exchange

As a teacher, researcher, or doctoral student, you can receive funding for teaching, lecturing, seminars, supervision, and examinations at a partner university in Europe. You need to plan and coordinate your exchange with your department and education program before carrying it out. 

A teacher exchange requires at least 8 hours of teaching over a minimum of two days at the partner university. Compensation is always provided based on predetermined standard amounts, regardless of the actual costs incurred for travel. Staff training

The Erasmus+ program can provide grants for Erasmu+s Staff Training for those who want to enhance their skills at universities, organizations, and companies in Europe. You must be away for at least two days. Teachers can also participate in staff exchanges.

Examples of exchanges include structured programs such as Staff Weeks, job shadowing, or courses. You receive financial support for accommodation and living expenses based on based on predetermined standard amounts, regardless of the actual costs incurred for travel. Which countries can you travel to? 

EU member states, as well as North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Turkey.

Remuneration levels
The compensation levels are determined by the rules of the specific scholarship fund from which the funds are taken. Compensation is always provided based on predetermined standard amounts, regardless of the actual costs incurred for the trip. If the travel costs exceed the standard amounts, your own department must cover the additional expenses.

Since a breakpoint occurs July 31, 2025, when new levels take effect, you must use the table of standard amounts that corresponds to your planned exchange period—either before or after this date.

Expensive tickets

If the standard amounts above do not cover at least 70% of the actual ticket cost, up to 80% of the actual ticket cost can be covered. The maximum amount that can be paid based on a cost of SEK 7000 per ticket, i.e. SEK 5600.   This applies to trips that start after September 1, 2024. Attach a copy of the ticket when funds are requested!

Contact trip/preparation visit

Are you interested in establishing a new cooperation within the Erasmus+ programme?  If so, you can apply for funding for preparatory visits or evaluation visits. The compensation rules are the same as for teacher and staff exchanges within Erasmus+, and funds can be granted for one person from the educational program and a coordinator from the International Office.

Opportunities for doctoral students

As a PhD students at KI you can participate in teacher exchange in the some way as other teaching staff. If you are employed as a PhD student you can also participate in staff training.
