The funding is similar to travel grant and does not cover salaries for the staff during the secondment. The staff must be employed at the organizations. The program is named "Staff Exchanges" under the ongoing framework program HORIZON EUROPE and was called "Research and Innovation Staff Exchange" (RISE) under the previous framework program Horizon2020.

- HORIZON-MSCA-2026-SE Opening: 16 Dec 2025; Deadline: 16 Apr 2026
- HORIZON-MSCA-2027-SE Opening: 15 Dec 2026; Deadline: 15 Apr 2027
The staff members can be researchers at any career stage (from doctoral candidates to postdoctoral researchers), as well as administrative, managerial or technical staff supporting the research & innovation activities under the project.
The staff going on the secondments must be employed at the organisation for at least one month full-time equivalent before going on the secondment, i.e. their salaries are already paid by the organisation.
The SE project consists of a network where organizations collaborate in form of a Consortium.
The Coordinator with a consortium applies to the Call.
Budget
The SE project funds added costs during secondments calculated per month by flat-rate. The budget consists of categories
- "Staff member top up allowance" 2870€ per secondment month,
- "Special needs allowance", if applicable e.g. for costs not covered by basic insurance through social charges, requested unit x (1/number of secondment months)
- "Research/Training/Networking cost" 1300€ per secondment month
- "Management/Indirect cost" 1000€ per secondment month.
Please note that the amounts may not cover the entire cost of the secondment, and that secondment months are pro-rata meaning the exact number of days of the secondment and not full months. This means that the project will be paid by the exact number of days that each staff member are on the secondment proven by travel, even if the planned budget are full months.
