postdocs.ai - an AI tool for research proposals provided by KI
After a successful pilot, The Committee for Research (KF) has decided to fund 400 1-year licenses for postdocs.ai to help researchers prepare research proposals to national and international funding agencies.
KF has asked Grants Office to evaluate the tool towards the end of the license period. Researchers who have claimed a license will therefore be asked to answer a short questionnaire.

Is my data safe?
Yes, your data remains safe in the EU and is not used for training any AI models. KI’s IT department has approved the tool.
How do I get started?
- Go to postdocs.ai
- Click Sign in
- Click Continue with university account and select Karolinska Institute
You claim a license by starting an application.
N.B. The number of licenses is limited, so please do not claim a license unless you are sure that you will use it.
How does the tool work?
- Find calls that match your research – the tool is adapted to a growing number (currently 67) different national and international funders, e.g. VR, The Swedish Cancer Society (Cancerfonden), ERC.
- Draft proposals in the call's template: You provide the research idea and background materials, postdocs.ai drafts the proposal in the call’s template.
- Manage your references (Import Zotero etc.)
- Review your proposal based on assessment criteria
- Run Eligibility check
Can I invite others to the proposal?
Yes, you can invite anyone to collaborate on a proposal using their email or a link, even collaborators outside Karolinska Institute.
Do the funding agencies accept this?
Yes, we keep track of the funding agencies’ policies regarding the usage of AI for research proposals. At this point, we are not aware of any funder that forbids usage of AI when preparing research proposals. N.B. These policies might change, and you need to make sure that the funder you are applying to allows the use of AI and that all the information in your application is accurate.
