The shuttle bus runs fossil-free

Since September 1st 2015, the shuttle bus between Solna and Flemingsberg, Huddinge runs exclusively on renewable fuel, by agreement between Karolinska Institutet (KI) and the Karolinska University Hospital (K).

As part of KI's environmental and sustainability work, KI has the objective of reducing the climate impact of business travel. Therefore, KI and Karolinska University Hospital has agreed that the shuttle bus between campus Solna and campus Flemingsberg should run on 100% fossil-free fuel.

The shuttle bus since September 1st runs with 100 % synthetic diesel whose raw material includes rape.
To let the shuttle bus run exclusively on renewable fuel is expected to yield an average reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of up to 90 % compared to fossil diesel (as specified by OKQ8).

The fuel meets, according to OKQ8, the requirements for sustainability criteria for biofuels, which means traceability in the supply chain and a guaranteed minimum greenhouse gas reduction.
The fuel is also classified as less dangerous than petroleum -based / fossil diesel.

Respect for the environment - both inside and outside the bus!

Westin Buss runs with modern, fuel-efficient buses with the lowest environmental class Euro6 (also applies to reserve vehicles), and is fueled exclusively with 100% renewable fuel (HVO100), which means a CO2 reduction of over 90% compared to fossil products (according to Shell's website).

The system works with sensors in the bus to maintain an even and comfortable temperature with optimized energy consumption. All air taken in passes filters to avoid pollen and dust.

- and speaking of safety?

Westins busses are of course equipped with alcohol locks, seat belts and an automatic extinguishing system in the engine compartment.
