Career Focus Group

Vision

The Career Focus Group (CFG) works to improve the recruitment process and its transparency at KI and to promote career paths and possibilities for Junior Faculty (JF).

Goals

As representatives of a large number of KI employers, who yet do not hold a permanent faculty position, we aim to:

  • Help develop a more structured career path at all levels
  • Increase the transparency of the recruitment and career progression processes of JF at KI, which should involve an external peer-review committee
  •  Advocate for the opportunity for JF to develop an independent line of research through targeted funding, mentorship, support, and infrastructures
  • Help those who wish to remain in academia find adequate support

Planned and past activities

The activities of the CGF include:

  • Organizing career development seminars, workshops, and social events;
  •  Monitoring issues of importance to JF, such as career structure, funding, and career progression support;
  • Engaging in discussions on topics relevant to JF;
  • Meeting regularly to discuss our ongoing and future projects;
