Create new projects
To create a new project in ELNAdminWeb click on “Projects” and then click on “Create new project”.

Give the project a name (be careful with spelling since the project name cannot be changed after it has been saved).
The project name must be typed directly into the box, to prevent carryover from excel or word formatting.
If ou want, you can write a short description of the project (type directly into the box and do not paste text).
The description should be written in a line, do not make any deliberate row breaks (do not use the “enter” button).
Select a signature option. This will apply to all experiments of the project.
- To countersign means that the submitted experiment must be reviewed and countersignes by a second part (a co-signer) before being locked. If you select this option you must give the permission to "co-sign" experiments to at least one project member (see below)
- To sign means that the user can lock the experiment by writing his/her KI password. This option is the most commonly used.
- No signature means that the user can lock the experiment directly by pressing the Submission button and without writing his/her KI password.
Click “Save”.

To give access to the new project to the whole group:
Click on "Members_groups" and select the group name
Click on “Add”. This will move the group name from the left to the right column.
Click on the group name again.
Select the privileges that the group should have and click on “Update permission”.
It is important to give the "Add" permission to project members otherwise they will not be able to "Add" (Save) experiments under the project.

To give access to the new project to individual users:
Click on “Members_users” and select the user.
Click on “Add”. This will move the user name from the left to the right column.
Select the user name again
Select the privileges that the user should have and click on “Update permission”.
It is important to give the "Add" permission to project members otherwise they will not be able to "Add" (Save) experiments under the project.

The ExternalUserAdmin group is added automatically to your projects
There have been problems with superusers creating projects and not transferring the administration rights to the superuser taking over after them.
This has resulted in problems administrating these projects and we have had to manually make changes in the database in order to give administration rights to new superuser.
To solve this issue, the group of ELN administrators at KI called "ExternalUserAdmin" group is now automatically added to all already created projects and all new projects that you create.
This gives us the possibility to help you transfer project administration rights to anyone in your research group.
