For those who want to apply for promotion from Assistant Professor to Senior Lecturer
Application
As an applicant, you submit your complete application to the Competence Provision Unit (Central Administration/HR Office) via email to academic-appointments@ki.se. Please note that you must submit your application at least 6 months before the employment as Assistant Professor ends.
The application must contain:
• Information on the field of research for your employment as Assistant Professor
• Focus of the Senior Lectureship (research or education and research)
• Department

Assessment process
The Recruitment Committee prepares and decides in cases regarding the employment of Professors and Senior Lecturers and therefore also prepares applications regarding promotion from employment as Assistant Professor to Senior Lecturer.
To be promoted to Senior Lecturer, you as an applicant must, in an assessment by the Recruitment Committee, meet the eligibility requirements and the assessment criteria for employment as Senior Lecturer in accordance with Instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet (currently only available in Swedish: Anvisningar till anställningsordningen för lärare vid Karolinska Institutet). You must also be deemed suitable for such employment according to the assessment criteria that KI has determined should be applied in cases of promotion to Senior Lecturer.
You will choose between applying for promotion with a focus on research or promotion with a focus on education and research. When applying for promotion to Senior Lecturer, the assessment criteria set out in the Instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet (Anvisningar till anställningsordningen för lärare vid Karolinska Institutet) that applied when taking up the position as Assistant Professor are applied. If you are deemed to meet all the assessment criteria for promotion to Senior Lecturer stipulated by KI, your application can be assessed by two external reviewers.
Decision
After preparation and approval or disapproval from the Recruitment Committee, the Head of Department makes the decision. In certain cases, decisions can be referred to the President of Karolinska Institutet.
Promotion to Senior Lecturer means permanent employment as Senior Lecturer.
