Liquid Nitrogen Safety Courses for Neo and ANA Futura
It is mandatory to attend the Liquid Nitrogen Safety Course to get access to the room with isothermal freezers in ANA Futura or Neo.
From January 1, 2026, there is a new arrangement for the liquid nitrogen safety courses for Biomedicum, ANA Futura and Neo.
The new setup means that you are required to complete two different courses.
- First, a basic safety course is held either at Biomedicum, ANA Futura, or Neo. You sign up for the occasion that suits you best. See the dates further down the page.
- After completing the basic course, you must attend a local introductory course in person at ANA Futura or Neo. This course is held once a month in connection with the basic course. See the dates further down the page.
- Once you have completed both courses, access to ANA Futura or Neo freezer facility will be granted.
Course renewal every fourth year
It is mandatory for the basic safety course to be repeated every fourth year, but they may be repeated more frequently if desired. A reminder will be sent well in advance before the four-year period expires.
For ANA Futura staff: If you completed the refresher course in 2025, this is considered your most recent training occasion.

- General theory on liquid nitrogen and the risks
- Practical training on rescue equipment
- Theory on the alarm system
- Introduction and visit to the ANA Futura or Neo freezer facility

ANA Futura and Neo staff can register for any introductory course. All sessions include a joint theoretical information, followed by a site visit to the specific freezer facility where you will be working.
