Set environmental requirements in procurement and purchasing

Are you planning a purchase or starting a procurement process? Start by asking yourself if it is really needed. Avoiding or reducing purchases is the simplest way to reduce environmental impact.
If a purchase is necessary, make sure you set clear and relevant environmental requirements. This helps reduce emissions, improves quality and often leads to lower overall costs.

As an employee and orderer, you play a key role in reducing the negative climate impact of KI’s activities and supporting more sustainable production and consumption.

  1. Start by asking yourself: Do I really need to make this purchase? Could the need be met in another way, for example by borrowing or reusing something?
Check KI:s page: Buy and sell lab and office equipment
  2. When you make a purchase or run a procurement process - set environmental requirements.
  3. Follow up on those requirements to check that they are met.
