Increase the visibility of your research group using the group page on ki.se
To ensure that a group page can be found and is perceived as relevant and credible, it is important that the information on the page is up to date. As a group leader, you are responsible for the content of your group page, and the checklist on this page is intended to support you when working with your group page to increase the group’s visibility.
All instructions on how to edit your research group in KI RIMS can be found on the Manage your research group information in KI RIMS page.
1. Add a name and preamble
Both the name and the preamble should be provided in Swedish and English, as ki.se is a bilingual website.
A name that describes the group’s research focus, together with a well-written preamble, helps visitors quickly assess whether the group is relevant to them or not. Use relevant keywords in the introduction that effectively describe the group’s research – words you yourself would use if you were searching for other research groups within your field.
2. Indicate that the group conducts research
Select Research performing group: Yes to ensure that the group is displayed together with other research groups on ki.se/en/research.
3. Manage group members
In KI RIMS, you specify who should be listed as the group leader on the group page. To some extent, you can also control which group members are displayed under the Staff and contact tab.
You may also want to encourage your group members to update their profile pages. This does not only improve the overall impression, but also enhances the group’s visibility in KI’s search tool for research information.
4. Describe the group’s research using labels
Add Labels that describe the group’s research - preferably both a research area (Swedish standard for fields of research) and topics (MeSH).
5. Add selected publications and research grants
Select the publications that you feel best reflect the group’s research and that you wish to highlight, and add them as Selected publications for your group. These will be displayed at the top of the Publications tab and increase your group’s chances of being found in KI’s search tool for research information.
The option Display all publications from group members keeps the publication list in the Publications tab automatically updated, but it does not affect discoverability in the same way as Selected publications.
Linking selected research grants to the group also provides valuable information for visitors, but it does not influence the search results in KI’s search tool for research information.
6. Contact your web editor
Your web editor can now help you add more information about the group directly in the Drupal web tool, such as a group image and content for the Our research tab. It is also possible to add additional tabs and to include web content at the bottom of tabs that contain information from KI RIMS.
Remember to contact your web editor when information needs to be updated, to ensure that your group page is always up to date.
