Boost your visibility using your profile page on ki.se
To help your profile page be found in the right context and seen as relevant and trustworthy by search engines, AI tools, and people such as colleagues, students, collaborators, funders, and the media, it’s important to keep the information on your profile page up to date. This checklist is sorted by priority and can guide you through what to review. Start at the top and continue as far as you feel is reasonable.
If you manage a group or team that has a group page on ki.se, you need to work not only on your own profile page, but also on the group page. Read more on the page Increase the visibility of your research group using the group page on ki.se.
1. Verify your publications
To avoid doing the same task more than once, we recommend that you, as a researcher, start by verifying your publications in the Bibliometric system. Articles that you have verified in the Bibliometric system will be automatically added to your publication list in KI RIMS the following morning.
2. Check your contact details
Check that the contact information in the profile section is correct. You can change some details yourself, whilst others must be updated in the source systems. Read more on the Manage your profile information in KI RIMS page to find out what can be changed, by whom, and where.
3. Add a profile picture
Including a photo helps to complete your profile page and creates a sense of trust for visitors.
4. Write a short text about what you do at KI
If you are a researcher, you should write short texts about yourself and your role at KI, your research and your teaching. To get started, you may find it helpful to use an AI tool when drafting an initial version of your texts.
If you hold an technical/administrative position, you should also describe your role at KI on your profile page.
The page Manage your profile information contains tips on how to write these texts, whether you are a researcher or a technical/administrative staff member. It also provides suggested prompts that you can use if you want to use an AI tool like Copilot to get started with drafting your texts.
If you are not involved in research, you will usually not need to do more than this. If you wish to add further information, you can skip ahead to point 10.
5. Describe your research with labels
Add research area (Swedish standard for fields of research) and topics (MeSH) that describe your research, to make it easier for others to find you by area, topic, method, and expertise.
Guidance on adding labels in KI RIMS is available on the Manage your profile information page.
6. Add your ongoing research grants
When adding grants in KI RIMS, your ongoing research funding is the most important to include. Together with the text describing your research, this information is key to making your current research visible.
7. Add additional publications
You can now add publications that you would like to display in your publication list on ki.se but that you have not been able to verify in the bibliometric system. Please note that, in addition to more traditional publication types, you can also add datasets, code, visualisations, and patents under Publications in KI RIMS.
8. Add selected professional activities
If you would like to highlight specific professional activities under the CV tab on your profile page, add them under Professional activities. These may include, for example, roles and assignments at KI or awards and distinctions you have received. Please also ensure that your employment and degree information is correct, and update or add details where needed.
Any leadership and responsibility assignments you mark as favourites will be displayed as one of your titles on the profile page.
9. Add your ORCID
Add your ORCID to KI RIMS to help the system more easily identify your publications and research funding as yours. You can also choose to automatically transfer information about your publications from KI RIMS to ORCID.
Information about ORCID settings can be found on the Account settings page in KI RIMS. This page also includes guidance on how to improve the accuracy of suggested publications and research funding by managing search settings and researcher identifiers.
10. Add additional information
If you want to create an even more comprehensive profile page, you can choose to add further research grants and professional activities. You may also add links to webpages and social media, as well as videos, news articles, and presentations.
Remember that you are always responsible for ensuring that the information about you and your research in KI RIMS and on ki.se is correct and updated.
