Peter Reichard (1925–2018), was professor of biochemistry at the Medical Nobel Institute for Biochemistry, and member of the Karolinska Nobel Assembly for more than 20 years.
Reichard discovered the enzyme controlling the synthesis of DNA monomers, ribonucleotide reductase, as well as thioredoxin and thioredoxin reductase, which act as hydrogen donor
for the ribonucleotide reductase reaction. His discoveries are of fundamental importance particularly for the understanding and treatment of cancer
