Payments to certain countries is no longer possible

From the 12th of April 2021 Swedbank has decided that it is no longer possible to make payments via the internet bank to certain countries. The possibility of payment to certain countries has been limited in order to counter money laundering and other financial crimes in order to comply with Swedish legislation.

For employees coming from countries where it is not possible to deposit their salaries via the internet bank, it is recommended that the institution contact the payroll unit. It is not possible to send any payments to countries that are on the EU's sanctions list.

Guidelines for the Management of Prepaid Debit Cards

Karolinska Institutet requires a solution that provides contractors and short-term scholarship holders from sanctioned countries with immediate access to compensation, as international money transfers are often limited or prohibited. These regulations aim to ensure uniform and correct handling of prepaid debit cards and describe procedures, division of responsibilities, and conditions for eligibility. Only individuals from sanctioned countries, where payment options to their home country are restricted, may be issued such cards.
