IT fee for affiliates
From the 2026 financial year onwards, not all staff will be charged an IT fee. The IT fee is now charged to affiliates, ensuring that the IT Office can provide a secure, modern and flexible IT environment to meet the needs of different users.
The IT fee finances parts of the common infrastructure at our campuses such as parts of the wired and wireless network with associated infrastructure, central directory service, redundant data centers, centrally procured contracts and the systems for Mac and PC computers.
The fee is SEK 10 400 per year and user.
Which affiliates are charged an IT fee?
Affiliated individuals, including affiliated doctoral students, are charged the IT fee when their affiliation results in an employee account, with the exception of Professors Emeritus.
Individuals at KI who are issued with a student account are not charged an IT fee. They are provided with a more limited student licence for Microsoft 365 (Microsoft 365 A5 for student use benefits) with reduced functionality.
This applies, for example, to Doctoral students who are not employed by or affiliated with the university.
