Robert Lundberg Memorial Foundation

Karolinska Institutet hereby invites applications for research- and travel grants from the Robert Lundberg Memorial Foundation.

Purpose

The purpose of the foundation is to promote scientific research in the field of tumour diseases, especially cancer. Research into the care of cancer patients may also be granted funding. Applications may be made for grants for research and/or study trips.

Eligibility

Applications are invited from registered doctoral students at Karolinska Institutet, who have completed their half-time review, but has not yet earned their Ph.D degree. Grants can be awarded maximum three times to any applicant.

Amount

The disposable amount is usually between 450,000 and 500,000 SEK, but can also vary between years. Awarded grants varies between 25,000 and 85,000 SEK per person. You can never get more than the requested amount.

Application

The application shall contain:

  1. Project plan, maximum 15 000 characters (approximately 4 A4-pages)
  2. Budget where indirect costs must also be stated
  3. Publication list, where at least one and up to five papers that have been published during the last five years should be specified. At least one manuscript must be attached, in case you don’t have any publications yet.

Note that you should not add co-applicants to this call.

The application must be submitted digitally. The online form will be available ​through KI Prisma during the application period, April 8 – 22, 2025. The application period opens at 10 am on April 8 and closes 2 pm on April 22.

Decision

Decision of grant will be taken by the Committee of Research. All applicants will be notified by e-mail in June.

Attachments

If you have previously been awarded a grant from the foundation, you are asked to enclose a progress report with your current application, otherwise it won’t be taken into account.

For those who apply for travel grants, one or more of the following documents should be attached:

  1. Abstract
  2. Confirmation that an abstract has been submitted or accepted
  3. Personal invitation to a congress or institution
  4. A letter from the supervisor confirming the purpose of the trip and the role of the applicant on this trip
  5. An extract from Ladok confirming you have passed the half-time control.

For those who apply for project grants, the following documents should be attached:

  1. A letter from the supervisor describing the role of the applicant in the research project.
  2. An extract from Ladok confirming you have passed the half-time control.

Reports

After the end of the term, you have to login to Prisma and confirm whether you have used the money, or at least have started using the money, or not. If you have not used the money at all during the disposition period, these should be returned to the Foundations & Donations.

Reports are submitted via Prisma about 12 months after the money has been paid, except for travel benefits where reporting takes place approximately one month after the end of the term. You will receive an email notification when it is time to report.
