FileMaker database management

FileMaker is a powerful platform for creating customised database management solutions. It allows users to create, share, and manage databases tailored to specific needs.

FileMaker can be used to create a variety of customised applications and databases for event management, asset tracking, data collection and analysis, and more.

Operation and access

The service is operated in KI's internal server environment, and pricing is based on the functions of the database application. The content of database applications can be made available to users in different ways, depending on the needs:

  • Via FileMaker Pro: client software that can be used on Windows or Mac. Each user who connects requires a Filemaker Pro licence.

  • Via FileMaker Go: client application that can be used on iPhone or iPad. Users connecting in this way are required to either have a licence for FileMaker Pro, or to use a concurrent user licence.

  • Via FileMaker WebDirect: this is a web interface that allows access to database applications using a standard web browser. Users connecting via WebDirect are required to either have a licence for FileMaker Pro or a concurrent user licence.

  • Via PHP server: an external web server optimised to handle high loads with many concurrent users. The PHP server, in turn, communicates with the FileMaker server. This solution does not require additional licenses for each user and is well-suited for applications that handle notifications.

Pricing 2025

  • Basic cost/month: 2300 SEK
  • PHP add-on/month: 1250 SEK
  • Concurrent users/month: 1980 SEK

Licensing costs

The user orders licences for FileMaker Pro and WebDirect, and the cost is outside the database application service.

The current price for a FileMaker Pro licence is 900 SEK/year, which gives a designated user access to the FileMaker application on their computer. Concurrent users cost an additional 1980 SEK/each.

These licences are ordered like other licences via Wisum: Order software licences.

Additional IT support

For FileMaker teams that need more support than what is included in the service for the regular operation of database applications, help is available from the Additional IT support service. The FileMaker service also allows for the possibility of getting help from a contracted consultant with development as needed. Costs for this are charged separately.
