Bojana Nathorst-Böö Foundation for Continuing Education in Pediatrics

Purpose

The purpose of the foundation is that doctors and nurses in pediatrics in the Stockholm Region and working at Karolinska Institutet should be able to apply for funds for continuing education, study trips or participation in conferences in Sweden or abroad.

Eligibility

Eligible to apply for funds are doctors and nurses employed or affiliated at Karolinska Institutet in pediatrics.

Amount

The available amount varies from year to year but is expected to be approximately 500,000 SEK. A higher amount than the amount applied for can never be awarded. 

Anyone who has applied for and been granted more than one travel grant from KI's calls for proposals may not receive more money than what covers the total costs of the trip. This may mean that you need to decline a grant in whole or in part. All travel grants applied for and received for the current trip must be reported in the application.

The following conditions applies:

• The grant may not be used for any trip other than the one for which the application is made. If the grant cannot be used, it must be refunded.
• Grants cannot be applied for expenses paid by the organizer, such as conference fees or paid travel or accommodation in connection with being invited as a lecturer.
• Grants can only be applied for for expenses for your own trip, not for any accompanying family members.
• A complete budget, which also includes indirect costs, must be attached.
• Only one application per person and application period is permitted. Travel period The trip / conference / course must begin no later than 12 months after the decision date for the grant.

Application

The application must be submitted digitally. The online form will be available through KI Prisma during the application period, January 6 - 20, 2026. The application period opens at 10 am on January 6 and closes 2 pm on January 20.

Attachments

In addition to the information provided in the form, one or more of the following attachments must be attached:

1. Abstract (mandatory for those going to a conference with the purpose of presenting an abstract) and confirmation that the abstract has been submitted or accepted.
2. Personal invitation to a conference or institution (mandatory for those invited to a conference as a chairman, lecturer or similar, or to an institution/lab for those applying for a grant for research exchange)
3. Course program and certificate of applied for or received course place are attached (mandatory for those applying for a grant for a course)
4. Program with description, purpose and expected benefit for those applying for a grant for a study trip or for an exchange aimed at learning new techniques and methods or to establish collaboration.

Note that you should not add co-applicants to this call.

Decision

Decision of grant will be taken by the Committee of Research. All applicants will be notified by e-mail in March.

Reports

After the end of the term, you have to login to Prisma and confirm whether you have used the money, or at least have started using the money, or not. If you have not used the money at all during the disposition period, these should be returned to the Foundations & Donations.

Reports are submitted via Prisma about 12 months after the money has been paid, except for travel benefits where reporting takes place approximately one month after the end of the term. You will receive an email notification when it is time to report.
