Data delivery platform for healthcare data between Karolinska University Hospital and KI

The service is a joint initiative between Karolinska University Hospital and KI and includes features for access control, encryption, version control and activity logging. This digital solution greatly simplifies the process for researchers who need to retrieve healthcare data from the Karolinska University Hospital and transfer it to their research projects.

All you need to do is log in with your KI-ID in the delivery platform, and from there transfer your dataset to the appropriate KI storage.   

The service is being rolled out in stages and will initially apply to certain data extracts where the application has been processed by Karolinska Hälsodata (KHD) at the hospital. More processes and data sources will be incorporated into the solution in the future.

If your data is to be delivered via the delivery platform, you will be informed prior to the release. 

Here’s how it works - in brief

1. Application and permissions – no changes to current procedures
   As a researcher, you are responsible for ensuring ethical approval and the necessary agreements in accordance with applicable regulations. The application process is described on the page Vidareanvändning av hälsodata, as well as on the hospital intranet Inuti.
    
2. Create a user account
   To access the delivery platform area when downloading data, you must first create a user account. You can do this by logging in to molnlagring.regionstockholm.se via your Karyon client or KI-VDI. You will need to use your KI-ID and MFA to log in.
   
   The service can be accessed from the KI network, using VDI or connected via KI VPN. You will be able to access the data provided from the same location.
    
3. Data extraction at Karolinska University Hospital
   Authorised healthcare staff produce the data extract and place the dataset on the delivery platform, where access is defined for you as the recipient.
    
4. Safe transfer to KI
   You will be notified by email when the delivery is ready and can retrieve the dataset by logging in with your KI ID. Access and downloads are logged, and data on the delivery platform is cleared in accordance with routine procedures after 30 days.
